About Zihuatanejo

Zihuatanejo is located close to Ixtapa on the Pacific coast of Mexico.  Once a sleepy fishing village, Zihuatanejo has managed to retain the laid back atmosphere which makes it the perfect destination for a quiet vacation.  The town is small and filled with souvenir shops, hotels and restaurants.

Sport fishing is a popular activity in Zihuatanejo and you can also go horseback riding or take a sunset cruise on a large catamaran.  The beaches of Zihuatanejo are spread out on the smallish Bahia de Zihuatanejo and are great for swimming, snorkeling, water sports and relaxtion.  A pedestrian walkway leads out to the bay beaches of Playa Madera, Playa La Ropa and Playa Las Gatas. 

If you are looking for more excitement, in nearby Ixtapa you will find golf courses, a modern marina, as well as stylish restaurants, bars and nighclubs.

In Ixtapa there is also an aquatic park with water slides, rides and fast foods as well as separate facilities where you can swim with the dolphins.

A great advantage is that Ixtapa is close to Zihuatanejo, a little bit smaller and quieter resort which has retained some of the charm it had as a former sleepy fishing village.  The two resorts compliment each other and because they are so close vacationers are able to have a lot of different options for every taste.
