As long-time owners of vacation rental property we have discovered many valuable clues which should assist in the ultimate goal of acquiring agreeable bookings for your vacation property. We would like to share these tips with you in the hopes that you will experience the success that we have.

1. Check your e-mail at least once per day (twice is better). If you are travelling you can go to a site called http://www.Mail2Web.com. All you need is your e-mail address and your password and you can access your e-mail from anywhere in the world. If you don't have your computer with you try to find an internet cafe.

2. Always answer an inquiry immediately. People usually e-mail more than one owner requesting information. If you are fast and efficient with your reply they are much more likely to stay with you.

3. If possible include your phone number on your listing. Some people prefer to phone rather than e-mail so that they can contact the owner right away.

4. Keep your contact information current. If your e-mail address or telephone number changes don't forget to have it changed on your listing.

5. Make sure that the description of your property does it justice and includes highlights of both the inside and the location.

6. Photos should show both the inside and outside of your property.

7. If possible have a personal web site made so that people have the opportunity to obtain more details and photos about your property if they are really interested.

8. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. There are lots of vacation rental sites on the internet that are very reasonably priced for a year's listing. We have found that by listing on a number of these sites, it gives us much more exposure for our rental property.
