Nova Scotia South Shore

The South Shore of Nova Scotia, is the part of the Atlantic coast running southwest from Halifax Harbour to the western end of the peninsula at Yarmouth.
For many reasons it has become the most important area for tourism in the province. The Bay of Fundy, noted for the world's highest tides along the Acadian Shore is a thrill to visit.
The famous "lighthouse route" follows the coast often at the water's edge and takes you by fishing villages, secluded anchorages, boat builders, antique shops, historic architecture and white sandy beaches. The UNESCO Heritage Township of Lunenburg has many oceanfront vacation homes set in restored heritage houses. Here you can watch a working blacksmith as he plies his trade amidst the beautifully preserved buildings of the old town district. The charming town of Liverpool with its privateer legends also has some great cottages and vacation homes you can rent directly from an owner.
Experience the past as part of the present when you pass ox teams hauling lumber and coastal villages where fishermen still tow wooden dories out to sea. Enjoy the picturesque sights of 20 lighthouses including the one at famous Peggy's Cove as you make your way west to Yarmouth.
It is no wonder that visitors to Nova Scotia, enjoy exploring the beautiful and varied South Shore.
