Uaymitun is located just northeast of Progreso on the
Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. It is a one hour drive
from Merida airport and four hours from Cancun.
Uaymitun is best known as a
wildlife bird sanctuary that features lots of birds and the
fabulous pink flamingos (typically numbering in the
thousands). Tourists can visit a lookout tower for
free, right next to the road on the way into Uaymitun.
Uaymitun is one of the prime areas in Mexico's Yucatan for
coral reef snorkeling. You will also enjoy the wide
beautiful beaches and experience ocean views at dusk and

public transportation that takes passengers to Chicxulub,
Progreso, Merida and Telchac.
