Makena is located just south of Wailea in South Maui and extends
through the fascinating last lava flow on the Ahihi-Kina'u Natural
Area Reserve to La Perouse Bay, a favourite snorkeling spot.
Makena vacation rentals include luxury vacation homes and villas as
well as more affordable condos and cottages. If you enjoy
hiking, the area has some trails up through the lava fields towards
Haleakala. Well known beaches in the area include Makena
Beach, Little Beach and Oneuli Beach which has black sand. The
area also has some roadside food stands some with awesome fish
tacos.
