and beautiful black sand beach. Along the road you will find 3 public
beaches. Down the road is Lava Tree Park where the lava hardened and
looks like a forest of trees. Nearby is Volcano National Park, the home
of Pele, the Goddess of the Volcano. You can explore a few of the lava
tubes and even walk the surface of the Volcano, Kilauea, currently an
active volcano.
The larges and most metropolitan city on the Big Island is Hilo, which
is 24 miles north. There you will find a local flea market, museums,
theater and other entertainment.
