Mill Bay is a quiet
waterfront village on the southeast coast of Vancouver
Island, approximately 26 miles north of Victoria.
Historically known for its lumber and milling industry
which thrived at the mill on the bay, Mill Bay comes by
its name honestly.
The surrounding areas offer the ideal location for those
who long for a vacation away from the madding crowd. The
Mill Bay Nature Park has many easy oceanfront
hiking/cycling trails and Bamberton Provincial Park has
a large beach that fronts on the beautiful Saanich
Inlet, with picnic tables and shade trees.
Mill Bay is located in the Cowichan Valley which is fast
becoming known for its local wines and ciders. Cowichan
also has annual community events such as the Brentwood
Rowing Regatta each April, an annual country music
festival in May, and in August, an event called Art
Affair, featuring the best of South Cowichan artisans
and gallaries.
The Mill Bay Ferry offers an alternate route to
Brentwood Bay on the Saanich Peninsula, or the ferry
terminal at Swartz Bay. For those who are adventurous
enough to sail the straits and channels from Mill Bay to
Ladysmith, boaters will find moorage and supplies in
Mill Bay.
Mill Bay vacation rentals include private oceanview
homes set in the woods, condos and bed and breakfast
inns.
Renting from an owner in Mill Bay will
make for special memories of your Vancouver Island
vacation in lovely
British Columbia.
