Kaleden is a small historic rural community located just minutes
south of Penticton, in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, with a
population of approx. 1,500 people. The name Kaleden is a combination of
the Greek word 'kalos' (beautiful) and the biblical name for orchard, 'Eden'.
A famous historic landmark which still stands in Kaleden is the ruins of an old
hotel which was built in 1912. There is also a lot of history surrounding
the original school, also built in 1912, but re-built on the site in 1935.
