About Arizona

Arizona is a part of the US region commonly known as the South West.  Phoenix and Tucson are the two major cities of Arizona, however the name Phoenix is also used to define the city of Phoenix (capital of Arizona) and the whole mega polis area, which also includes Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, Glendale, Chandler, Gilbert and a few other cities, which all have their own councils, police and taxes.
The name Arizona, comes from from the Spanish interpretation of "arizuma" which originated from the Aztec Indian word for "silver-bearing" and Pima Indian word "arizonac" for "little spring place".  Because of its mild winter climate, Arizona is well known as a vacation destination for "snowbirds" from Canada and the northern states as they escape the cold winters.
